Russ Fish

Winemaker Vision

Russ Fish, a Sonoma county native, gained the majority of his winemaking experience in Sonoma County wineries. After graduating from UC Davis with a Master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology, Russ worked at several wineries both small and large in Alexander Valley and Mendocino County. In July of 2012, Russ moved to Vintage Wine Estates as Associate winemaker for Ray’s Station Winery in Hopland and then Winemaker for Cartlidge and Browne. Russ believes in sourcing grapes from all over the bountiful North Coast region to make fruit forward balanced wines.

Terroir

California's warm, dry Mediterranean climate is ideal for growing high quality wine grapes. Thanks to the diversity of geology and topography California offers a diversity of appellations and vineyard sourcing to create wines with finesse, elegance, ripeness and power. California's wine industry has a rich history of innovation and winemakers willing to push the envelope in order to make the best wines possible.

About

Legends often begin in the most ordinary surroundings. For two friends, Tony Cartlidge and Glen Browne, it began in 1980 in an undistinguished Napa Valley garage when they set out to build a wine company from scratch. Their aim; seek out the best vineyards, harvest the best grapes and make the best wine that they possibly could. Today the spirit and vision of the founders live on in each bottle of Cartlidge & Browne; made to express the character of the grapes and a California sense of place.
